Walk up the garden path and through the door to discover towering piles of picture books, carefully curated collections of middle grade and YA fiction, shelves bursting with books of any topic you could name and much more. Get yourself settled down on a comfy chair or futon, grab a pile of books and a complimentary tea or coffee (and biscuit!) and wile away the hours finding your next great read.

NCBC has been established now for almost 40 years, in beautiful rural North Norfolk, in the garden of founder and owner Marilyn Brocklehurst. Starting the shop from just a few boxes of books, the collection now runs to nearly 50,000 books.

We are an assembled team of ex-Teachers, ex-Headteachers, Librarians and Book Enthusiasts. We carefully review and select the best books from over 70 publishers. We pride ourselves on the quality of our stock and our knowledge and expertise in the area of children's literature. Ask our wonderful team for a recommendation and they will bring you a tailored selection of books for you to peruse at leisure.

Alongside our shop in Alby, we offer a wide range of services to schools, including:

Library Rejuvenation - Professional assessment, installation of new libraries, and help with re-stocking, providing the latest and best fiction and non-fiction.

Approval Collections - If you cannot visit the centre, phone for a collection to be sent to your school. We will send the best books on offer from many publishers - hand-picked to your specification. Assess them with colleagues at your leisure.

Visiting for INSET - Visit the book centre as part of your INSET activity to see the latest offerings from many publishers.

Events in Schools - We can visit your school for a book fair with a huge collection of diverse titles for your pupils to browse and purchase on the day. We also offer author events and book supply to support your own book events.

"Pop-up" and Conference bookshops - We can also offer book displays to support conferences, courses & literature festivals and events that require books of any kind.

We offer 10% discount on school orders and competitive discount on class sets and orders of multiple copies.
